Cinderella is such a classic tale of overcoming that which may hold us back and becoming more than others may believe us to be. For a little girl playing in a Cinderella costume or dress transports her to another time and place where she can create a world of fantasy that surrounds her with fun and laughter. She can spend her day in her Cinderella costume imagining her stuffed animals to be those of the favorite Disney movie.
Don't be surprised to find her sitting quietly in her room talking to her animals and arranging them to help her with her tasks. She may spend hours dressed up and will likely not want to take her Cinderella Dress off when you want to take her to the store. She will dress up in the morning and wear the outfit through the day. It does not matter where she goes, she will go as Cinderella.
Just enjoy the wonder as you watch her become so involved in her make believe worry without doubts or fears of what the real world will bring. She is safe in her fairy tale and will enjoy it as long as you allow. She will take the experiences she makes up and enjoys with her through her life and perhaps access the memories as she needs them for relaxation or real life application.
It is amazing what this make believe time can do for little minds as they grow and indeed a sad day when they no longer think it important and that Cinderella dress floats to the floor to be found years later tucked away and forgotten. The time spent with it only a chest full of memories.
