Six Amazing Accessories for Your Cinderella or Princess Wedding

Some elements of the Cinderella wedding are downright obvious -- the extra-full ball gown, the elbow-length gloves. And let's not forget the pumpkin carriage that's sure to show up somewhere, whether it be the place cards, the centerpieces, or a giant prop piece near the entrance.

But with Princess weddings -- as with any other kind -- it's the details that make the difference, and getting those right often brings the bride the most satisfaction. Here are some suggestions for feeling that Cinderella magic right down to your glass-slippered toes.

The Headband

No one will fault you for wearing a crystal-studded royal tiara and necklace set. But Cinderella herself wore something a little different. The Disney movie was created in the 50s, when headbands were all the rage, and Ella herself seemed especially partial to them. Even on her wedding day, she wore a sparkling headband right on the top of her crown, in the simple 50s style. A waltz or ballet length veil sat low on the back of her head, almost at the nape of her neck. Without much difficulty, you can still find a rhinestone-studded wedding headband today.

The Neckwear

Cinderella's choice of neckwear was a little more timeless. Often, you'll see her don a simple one-stranded pearl choker. But it seems that her favorite adornment was the satin ribbon choker, which she wore in racy, Nicole Kidman-style black. You might not want to be as daring as Cinderella at your wedding, but the satin choker is fabulous, especially if you can purloin an antique ribbon from a beloved grandmother. Now you're the walking embodiment of elegance, and you have "something old" covered.

The Glass Slippers

It's common knowledge that you can get dramatic "glass slippers" (actually vinyl) for your royal stroll down the aisle. But glass slippers come in more casual, comfortable forms as well. Look for the open-toed variety, which give off all that fairytale spark, but leave your tootsies cool when it's time to dance the night away. Sure, Prince Charming might find these less useful as a bridal homing device, but he's already found his princess.

The Bluebirds of Happiness

Bluebirds played a major role in Cinderella's rise to the top, yet they usually get short shrift at a princess-theme wedding. Don't forget these perennial symbols of nuptial good luck at yours. A lovely way to include them is to track down a small bluebird keepsake charm or clip you can affix to your garter, toasting flutes or bouquet. Hallmark has one that simply glows. There you have it -- "something blue."

The Dove Release

You could argue that this isn't an accessory, but it's our article, so we're calling it one. Doves aren't the key characters in Disney's version that they were in the original Grimm story -- and thank goodness for that -- but they still define the moment when the prince and princess unite in marriage. For any Cinderella wedding, they're a must. But some "dove" handlers (the doves are actually white homing pigeons) have something more to offer the princess bride, such as ornate pumpkin coach carriages that double as cages. These can be placed near the altar for some romantic cooing action, then rolled down the aisle for a dramatic release once you've become husband and wife. For the biggest fireworks-like sensation, release the first two doves yourselves, but let pro handlers manage the rest.

The Guestbook Picture Frame

If you're true Cinderella aficionado, those full-color Walt Disney prints of the royal couple probably get your heart beating a little faster. Buy one framed with a large white matte. Or if you really want the signature frame but don't want the $150 price tag, buy the print separately and make a few patient trips to the thrift store. At a large one, you'll typically find a dizzying sample of frames and mattes you can usually get for pocket change. That's quite the return on something you'll love looking at for years.

One Shoe Can Change Your Life

My mom gave me a plaque the other day which is perfect. It says:

"One shoe can change your life,"~Cinderella

Love this quote!

Cinderella was a hard working chick, kicked down much of her life with dreams of meeting prince charming. Once she tried on a shoe, her life blossomed and her dreams began to come true.

We are all very much like Cinderella: working hard in everyday life with dreams of something more. Instead of being "like" Cinderella, you must push through life and strive for "becoming" Cinderella. Cinderella had no outstanding qualities or credentials. No college degree. Her family was dysfunctional. By today's standards, Cinderella was in quite an abusive relationship from her step sisters.

Now simply finding a prince charming will not make all your dreams come true. Though continuing to persevere, keep your belief in yourself and keep trying on those shoes, will bring you toward becoming Cinderella.

My goal has not been to find my prince charming. Though for the first time in my life I do feel like a princess: cared for, respected, appreciated.

Every day make your intention to have the day the best possible, do what is right for others and have fun.....lots of fun.

5 yrs ago I was completely lost and destroyed. Looking at how far I have come is stunning and exciting to imagine what will be accomplished in the future.

If you are struggling in some way in your life, you are just one action away from triumph.

Stay strong.

Believe in yourself.

Success is right before you.

How to Host a Unique Princess Birthday Party

Every little girl dreams of having her own princess birthday party and there are a lot of kids out there having princess parties. Make yours unique by following a few simple and inexpensive suggestions.

1 Mail or give out invitations handwritten or computer generated on a scroll of paper with an invitation to attend a "Royal Ball". Use old world language like "Hear Ye, Hear Ye, _____________ is invited to attend a ball at the royal palace in the kingdom of _____________." You could also include an agenda of activities to pique their curiosity.

If you wanted to make the birthday party extra fancy you could give each guest a princess dress up costume with their invitation that they would wear to the party. If you are on a tight budget, you could have them wear their own princess dress.

2. Have an adult friend appear unexpectedly dressed as your child's favorite princess. For example, ask a trusted friend or family member with blonde hair to come dressed in an Adult Cinderella Costume and mingle with the children and maybe have a royal tea party with them and bring a game or a coloring page to do with the girls. If you have a digital camera, you could take a photo of Cinderella with each guest and include it with the party favors you will give the children when the party is over.

3. Do a princess scavenger hunt where the guest are the fairy godmother and get to dress the birthday girl as a princess. You hide a dress, tiara, wand, gloves, cape, necklaces, and rings that the children need to search for around the house or yard and then dress your little girl in them.

4. Do a fashion show where each guest strolls down a red carpet while an announcer explains what they are wearing from head to toe.

5. Before the party, make a Cinderella cake by baking a white cake in 2 bowls to make a perfect circle. Frost it in light blue frosting and use pipe cleaners for wheels and some other cute decorations and Voila! You have Cinderella's carriage. Or have the children decorate their own cupcakes with their favorite princess.

6. No party is complete without the favors. Make them unique by giving each guest a princess doll dress that matches the dress you gave them with the invitations. An alternative would be to send a craft home they could do later, or a goody bag of princess items that they could use for themselves or for their dolls. Dollar stores are a great place to find inexpensive princess items.

Disney Cinderella DVD - The Birthday Gift That Keeps on Giving

Give your birthday child the gift that keeps on giving.

Cinderella

Walt Disney's feature length animated movie Cinderella was originally released in 1950.

Ilene Woods provided the voice of Cinderella and Eleanor Audley voiced the wicked stepmother. And by the way, Eleanor Audley can now be heard as the voice of Madam Leota in the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland and Disney world.

The year Cinderella was released it received an Oscar nomination for best musical score including the catchy song "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo."

The story

Cinderella holds up very well, even by today's standards.

Cinderella lives under the constant cruelty of her unsympathetic stepmother who treats her like a slave. And to make matters worse, Cinderella is constantly teased and tormented by her two stepsisters.

But through it all, Cinderella maintains a kind and loving heart which she generously shares with the local birds and animals while she dreams of a better life for herself.

Then with the magical help of her fairy Godmother, Cinderella's life begins to change dramatically.

With a wave of her magic wand

The fairy godmother transforms Cinderella into a vision of beauty and sends her on her way to the Royal Ball where she meets and falls in love with the handsome Prince.

But as the clock strikes midnight

Cinderella seems condemned to a life as a slave to her cruel stepmother.

Then, just when all seems lost

With the help of a very special glass slipper, Cinderella meets the Prince once again. The two are married and live happily ever after.

Today, the magic of Cinderella lives on.

Cinderella castle stands as a shinning centerpiece at both Disneyland in California and Disney World in Florida.

And now, Walt Disney's original Cinderella is available as a very special edition DVD.

A dream come true

This special release gives everyone that grew up with the Cinderella story the opportunity to rediscover this truly classic movie.

And now our children and grandchildren can discover the magic of Cinderella for the first time.

Some things never change and thankfully Walt Disney's Cinderella is one of them.

Women Seeking Men - A Cinderella Story

If you are one of many women seeking men, but feel a little unsure of yourself, remember the Cinderella story. Yes, you know the one. Cinderella was an orphan whose cruel stepmother and unkind step-sisters attacked her self-confidence day-in, day-out. Then, the king announced a ball to introduce his son to a fair maiden who would become his Queen.

Through the help of her fairy godmother, Cinderella attended the ball, and the prince fell in love with her. So much did Cinderella attract the prince, that he sought her out, using only a glass slipper until he found the woman it fit.

If you are a woman looking for a man, listen to the story behind this story. Cinderella attracted her prince because of who she was. She overcame the criticism of her stepmother, her step-sisters and every other person to be the radiant person that she was beneath the fireplace ashes. Her fairy godmother came to her rescue and the happily-ever-after-ending lives on forever.

How does this story apply to women seeking men? Self confidence is your fairy godmother. Supreme self confidence is your glass slipper to attract a guy, no - a prince - who will treat you like the queen you are.

Self confidence helps you believe in yourself when no one else does. You must believe that about yourself. You are a precious woman. I do. I believe that you are a special person who deserves love, friendship, commitment, companionship, romance, good sex, a soul mate - whatever it is you want in a relationship with a man.

There are great guys out there - and you need to attract them. Let me tell you why. When you are confident, aware of your own beauty, know what men want and can relate well, you filter out the losers. You see, there are guys out there who think that a woman is something to pick up, have a fling and then dump. Listen to me - when you know how good you are and how you can make a good man happy, you will drop those other guys quicker than a hot potato. In fact, they won't even bother with you.

Women seeking men, and women dating men, can develop the confidence that shines through for the good guys to see. You can too. You just need to know those critical pieces of information that will boost your confidence quickly and permanently.

Plan a Wedding With Cinderella Wedding Favors!

Many little girls dream of having the perfect wedding when they grow up; most picture themselves as a princess in white, with all eyes on them. Even as we grow older, we can't help but picture ourselves as, say, Cinderella or Snow White on our wedding day. Take a look at our charming "It's A Shoe Thing" shoe bottle opener. Made of silver chrome, this tiny stiletto heel evokes the timeless image of the soon-to be princess's shoe, left behind in a hurry. The miniature rhinestones accent the top of the shoe, and the gift box is carefully designed to show the shoe off to its fullest. Its black top with white polka dots and grosgrain ribbon make the presentation of this wedding favor a wonderful occasion.

Cinderella left the ball with a carriage, and your guests can leave with one too, courtesy of our "Enchanted Carriage" favor boxes.
